We are pleased to share that Jim Arnold has been named Wholesale Chief Administrative Officer. He was previously Managing Director at Markel FirstComp which is part of Markel Specialty.
“This position will be a key role for Wholesale as we drive toward achieving Markel’s corporate goals in the next five years and beyond. Jim’s experience in establishing strategic planning and business analytics will be a great fit for our team. In his new role, Jim will partner with the Regional Presidents and me to execute the division’s strategy, operational discipline, business plans, tactical processes and cost-saving initiatives. Additionally, he will collaborate with the underwriting and underwriting support teams to implement processes and technology to improve the division’s operating results,” said Bryan Sanders, Wholesale President.
Jim joined the FirstComp organization in 2007 as Chief Administrative Officer. In 2010, he played an integral role during the Markel and FirstComp acquisition and transition activities. Within his current role at Markel FirstComp, he has been responsible for the strategic direction of the Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Customer Service teams. Prior to joining Markel FirstComp, he was the Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary at GAB Robins Group of Companies, an international third-party administrator and insurance services company. His overall career experience includes several roles within management, insurance and reinsurance, and corporate law. He earned his juris doctorate from Villanova University School of Law.

Jim will report to Bryan and will be working out of the Richmond office.
