All candidates must submit a resume, essay (300 words max) describing a time you demonstrated the Markel Style, and an unofficial copy of university transcripts. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Yes, we seek interns who exhibit academic excellence (3.0 GPA or higher). We also seek well-rounded candidates who, in addition to meeting the 3.0 GPA minimum, exhibit leadership skills, hard work and zealous pursuit of excellence.
Recruiting starts in September for the Markel Internship Program beginning the following summer. Application review, interviews, and offers will take place September through February. Internship positions are typically filled by late February.
The number typically ranges between 25 and 30 interns in the US.
The length of the summer internship program varies by year, department, and intern, but typically begins in May and concludes by mid-August.
If you don’t meet the minimum entry requirements you will not be eligible to apply to Markel's Internship Program.
We do not make any guarantees of a full-time offer, but consider our internship program a way to identify candidates for future opportunities and build the talent pipeline for Markel.
